GRAPHIC DESIGN
Design generally is to achieve the very best composition, style or decoration.
Design is what you might call industrial art and has to do with the general conception and embellishment
of objects. In many cases the shape and proportion of the object itself, such as with appliences and
motorised vehicles etc, is an integral part of design and one of its most important elements.
In such as packaging, book covers, websites etc; the surface decoration alone contitutes the design.
But it is important to remember that the processes involved determine what is possible and appropriate
decoration in any given material and, combined with a true appreciation of the use to which the object
is to be put, constitutes the basis of design.
A sense of fitness is one of the most important elements in Design, and the finest design is at
once appropriate to the practical utility of the object and to the particular material used, bringing
an interrelation of parts intended to produce a coherent and effective whole.
Now don't say you haven't been told!
