CONTEMPORARY ART Page - Modern Art :: Contemporary Paintings :: Baron Halpenny
The term "Contemporary Art" is really just another way for saying "Modern Art" and so allows its self to
express many different styles. Much of my Art is distinctive and very much my own style and so could
easily be classed as "Contemporary Art".
For the Art World the phrase "contemporary art" is used for what they feel is serious art that is being
produced at this exact time of reference; that meaning quite simply, recently produced visual art.
However, there is no key logical point in the past to say when the art created is no longer considered
contemporary. So with this in mind one could say that an artwork that was created decades ago could still
be considered to be "contemporary art." But, I believe that a lot would also rest with the Artist that
created the work of art and this would give it its place in the History of Art and its key time location.
Much about Art and especially Contemporary Art is very much open to debate.
